The SmallRig RC 220B Pro COB LED is a studio light with an input power of 220 W and an output power of 200 W, offering color temperature adjustment ranging from 2700 to 6500 K. The COB light source, a Color Rendering Index (CRI) of 95+, and high brightness make this model ideal for product and portrait photography, film production, live streaming, and creating online content. The light supports multiple power supply options, is compatible with Bowens-mount accessories, and can be controlled in several ways, making it suitable for both studio work and on-location shoots.
High Luminance and Energy Efficiency
The use of the Three Times Optics system with a dedicated lens ensures high light intensity and uniform light distribution. Compared to the previous generation, this design reduces energy consumption by approximately 10% while maintaining the same level of brightness. When set to 100% power and measured from a distance of 1 meter without a reflector, the light intensity is 6,120 lux at 2,700 K, 7,590 lux at 3,200 K, and 9,180 lux at 5,600 K.
Adjustable Color Temperature and Consistent Light Color
The color temperature range from 2,700 to 6,500 K allows for a smooth transition from warm to cooler light and adapts the light’s character to a specific scene. The new COB light source provides a low DUV color deviation of ±0.0015, which helps maintain a consistent light tone across the entire supported temperature range. At the same time, the CRI of 95+ ensures accurate color rendering, which is important when photographing products, skin, or other subjects that require a natural color appearance.
Modular Design with V-Mount Quick-Release Connector
The lamp body connects to the adapter via a V-Mount quick-release connector, which streamlines the assembly, disassembly, and storage of individual components. The adapter uses an integrated circuit manufactured using gallium nitride technology, which has reduced its length by 37.5% compared to the previous generation. At the same time, energy conversion efficiency has increased by approximately 4%, allowing for a more compact design combined with efficient power supply operation.
Three Power Options
The SmallRig RC 220B Pro can be powered using a AC adapter, V-Mount batteries, or NP-F970 batteries. When using NP-F970 batteries, an additional NPF adapter is required, which is not included in the standard package. The various power options provide greater flexibility in setting up your workstation and allow you to adapt your workflow based on access to a power outlet or compatible batteries.
Multiple Control Methods and Quiet Operation
The light’s parameters can be adjusted directly using controls on the light’s body, an app, a control panel, or a DMX system. This allows you to choose the control method best suited to the setup of a specific photo or video shoot. The light operates at a noise level of approximately 28 dB from a distance of 1 meter, which minimizes additional noise on set.
Bowens Mount and Practical Features
The light is equipped with a universal Bowens mount, which allows for the use of a wide range of compatible accessories and light modifiers. The design also includes a hole for mounting an umbrella, an adjustable locking clamp, metal support brackets, and a damping system in the support arm that prevents the light from dropping suddenly when the lock is released. The kit also includes a Bowens reflector, a 6-meter power cord, and a carrying bag that makes it easy to store and transport your essential gear.
